Who the electrics evening is for
This session is aimed at homeowners who want to understand the electrics in their home and feel confident doing the simple jobs safely. Beginners are welcome. We start with isolation and testing, then move on to hands-on practice replacing common accessories such as sockets, switches and light fittings.
Knowing your limits
Electricity is dangerous when it is done wrong, so a big part of the evening is learning where DIY stops. In England, some electrical work, such as adding a new circuit, is notifiable and must be done or certified by a registered electrician. The course helps you recognise those jobs and decide when to call a professional. It does not qualify you as an electrician.
Where and how it runs
The course runs at Redhouse Farm, Withernsea (HU19 2BX), in a small group of up to 6, taught by an instructor with over 40 years' experience in the trades. All tools and materials are supplied for training use, and tea and coffee are provided. We welcome learners from Withernsea, Hornsea, Hull, Beverley, Bridlington and the surrounding areas.
